Joseph Johnson Testimonial

“I did come into the EPC from [another denomination].  I had been a member of [another presbytery] as a student for a number of years and the opportunity came up for me to pastor a local independent Presbyterian church (Rock Presbyterian Church).

We got the ball rolling with the EPC and I prepared for my ordination exam.  The fact that I was being examined for views was a breath of fresh air.  My experience in [my former denomination] was that whenever people transferred into our presbytery, they were given a full examination--as if they just graduated with their MDiv.  I appreciated the pastoral tone of the ministerial committee in the EPC; yes, they were concerned about reformed doctrine, but it was clear that they were not concerned so much about what may be understood to be tangential issues.  In the EPC, they were more concerned about broader kingdom. It really was a breath of fresh air and this was the same for the floor exam.  It was really an encouraging and edifying experience.”
